If you stick around through the closing credits of Before Midnight, the latest film in the trilogy that also includes Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, you’ll see that the movie is dedicated to someone whose name even the most die-hard fans have never heard before: Amy Lehrhaupt. Almost 25 years ago, Lehrhaupt met a young man named Richard Linklater and spent a night with him that he never forgot. Their encounter inspired Linklater to conceive and direct Before Sunrise, the first film in the series. She never saw it, though; unbeknownst to Linklater, by the time that movie came out, Lehrhaupt was dead.

Linklater never mentioned Lehrhaupt by name in the press before promoting Before Midnight—Ethan Hawke has said that the director was uncomfortable mentioning her until “extremely recently”—but he has long made brief references to their encounter. From a number of interviews he’s done over the years, we can now piece together the complete story of how Lehrhaupt helped inspire the series.

Linklater met Lehrhaupt in fall 1989, when he was visiting his sister in Philadelphia. He was 29 and had just finished shooting Slacker, and was staying there for one night while passing through on the way home from New York. Lehrhaupt was several years younger, about 20. They met in a toy shop, and ended up spending the whole night together, “from midnight until six in the morning,” “walking around, flirting, doing things you would never do now.” As in Before Sunrise, most of what they did was talk, “about art, science, film, the gamut.” Did they kiss? Yes. Did they have sex? The Times went so far as to ask Linklater in a recent interview, but he said he wants to “l(fā)eave a little mystery.”

Even in the midst of that romantic night, the filmmaker in Linklater couldn’t help but consider its cinematic possibilities. In a 2004 interview with the New York Times, he remembered “walking around [thinking], ‘If I could just capture this feeling I’m having right now,’ instead of actually having that feeling.” On a recent episode of the podcast The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith, he recalled mentioning the movie idea to Lehrhaupt that night:

But as the night came to an end, the paths of Linklater and Lehrhaupt began to diverge from the fictional storyline of Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Céline (Julie Delpy). In fact, on The Q&A, Linklater revealed that the ending of Before Sunrise was in part a response to what happened with him and Lehrhaupt. Unlike Jesse and Céline, who agree to reconvene in six months, the real-life young lovers exchanged numbers and tried to keep in touch while they were away. They called each other a few times, but it was “that long distance thing” that did them in. “It sort of did the fizzle,” he says, “So in the first movie that was a thing, the idea that they would intellectually kind of get beyond that and say ‘Well, we’re on different continents. What are the odds that it’s gonna work. Let’s just commit to this night.’ ”

Linklater soon became involved with another woman, who “swept into [his] life ... and took over for about a year or so,” and he and Lehrhaupt never talked again. He did think that maybe “she would show up at a Before Sunrise screening or something.” In Before Sunset, Céline shows up at a reading of Jesse’s book This Time, which is based on their night together. “It would be so weird,” he said, in 2004. But she never did.

Linklater didn’t know then that Lehrhaupt had died in a motorcycle accident on May 9, 1994, before she reached her 25th birthday. Before Sunrise started filming a few weeks later. Linklater only learned of her death three years ago, when a friend of Lehrhaupt’s, who knew about the encounter, put it together and sent him a letter. “It was very sad,” Linklater told the Times. Ethan Hawke was similarly devastated when he heard it, though he reminded Linklater that if he hadn’t met her, then he never would have made these movies or met some of the people who worked on them with him. “Who knows how we reverberate through each other’s lives,” Linklater reflected in another interview, “But she’s an inspiration on this.”

Almost 25 years ago, Lehrhaupt met a young man named Richard Linklater and spent a night with him that he never forgot. Their encounter inspired Linklater to conceive and direct Before Sunrise, the first film in the series. She never saw it, though; unbeknownst to Linklater, by the time that movie came out, Lehrhaupt was dead.

Linklater never mentioned Lehrhaupt by name in the press before promoting Before Midnight—Ethan Hawke has said that the director was uncomfortable mentioning her until “extremely recently”—but he has long made brief references to their encounter. From a number of interviews he’s done over the years, we can now piece together the complete story of how Lehrhaupt helped inspire the series.

Linklater met Lehrhaupt in fall 1989, when he was visiting his sister in Philadelphia. He was 29 and had just finished shooting Slacker, and was staying there for one night while passing through on the way home from New York. Lehrhaupt was several years younger, about 20. They met in a toy shop, and ended up spending the whole night together, “from midnight until six in the morning,” “walking around, flirting, doing things you would never do now.” As in Before Sunrise, most of what they did was talk, “about art, science, film, the gamut.” Did they kiss? Yes. Did they have sex? The Times went so far as to ask Linklater in a recent interview, but he said he wants to “l(fā)eave a little mystery.”

Even in the midst of that romantic night, the filmmaker in Linklater couldn’t help but consider its cinematic possibilities. In a 2004 interview with the New York Times, he remembered “walking around [thinking], ‘If I could just capture this feeling I’m having right now,’ instead of actually having that feeling.” On a recent episode of the podcast The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith, he recalled mentioning the movie idea to Lehrhaupt that night:

But as the night came to an end, the paths of Linklater and Lehrhaupt began to diverge from the fictional storyline of Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Céline (Julie Delpy). In fact, on The Q&A, Linklater revealed that the ending of Before Sunrise was in part a response to what happened with him and Lehrhaupt. Unlike Jesse and Céline, who agree to reconvene in six months, the real-life young lovers exchanged numbers and tried to keep in touch while they were away. They called each other a few times, but it was “that long distance thing” that did them in. “It sort of did the fizzle,” he says, “So in the first movie that was a thing, the idea that they would intellectually kind of get beyond that and say ‘Well, we’re on different continents. What are the odds that it’s gonna work. Let’s just commit to this night.’ ”

Linklater soon became involved with another woman, who “swept into [his] life ... and took over for about a year or so,” and he and Lehrhaupt never talked again. He did think that maybe “she would show up at a Before Sunrise screening or something.” In Before Sunset, Céline shows up at a reading of Jesse’s book This Time, which is based on their night together. “It would be so weird,” he said, in 2004. But she never did.

Linklater didn’t know then that Lehrhaupt had died in a motorcycle accident on May 9, 1994, before she reached her 25th birthday. Before Sunrise started filming a few weeks later. Linklater only learned of her death three years ago, when a friend of Lehrhaupt’s, who knew about the encounter, put it together and sent him a letter. “It was very sad,” Linklater told the Times. Ethan Hawke was similarly devastated when he heard it, though he reminded Linklater that if he hadn’t met her, then he never would have made these movies or met some of the people who worked on them with him. “Who knows how we reverberate through each other’s lives,” Linklater reflected in another interview, “But she’s an inspiration on this.”

In this way, Linklater did find another way to make that feeling, that “thing in the air” they once had between them, last: He turned it into cinema.

So sometimes I made myself remember him every detail of his face, the exact color of his eyes, his lips, his teeth; the texture of his skin, his hair. But it was all gone by the time he went.
And sometimes...not always but sometimes, I can actually see him.
It’s as if a cloud moves away and there he is, I could almost touch him. But then, Doria, well, rushes in and he vanishes again.
Well I did this every morning, when the sun was not too bright outside. The sun, somehow makes him vanish.
Yes he appears, he disappears, like...sunrise, or sunset, or anything so ephemeral.
Just like our life, hmm? We appear, and we disappear, and we are so important to some, but we are just... passing through.
...To passing through.

6 ) 胸部下垂時(shí)期...的愛(ài)情
愛(ài)情的發(fā)生有一百萬(wàn)種可能。一見(jiàn)鐘情愛(ài)上她的眼睛，甚至不需要靠視覺(jué)只是單單愛(ài)上他的氣味，都不稀奇。而愛(ài)情的逝去卻只有一種方式：在時(shí)間里消耗殆盡。雞仔電影大多鋪陳前者，先因誤會(huì)討厭你，再憑理解戀上你，總之當(dāng)你溫柔目光滿(mǎn)含愛(ài)意投向我之時(shí)刻，任務(wù)便已完成，觀(guān)眾心滿(mǎn)意足散場(chǎng)，胸中浪漫心緒彌而不散。
然而此時(shí)，一段親密關(guān)系真正困難的部分才剛剛開(kāi)始。一直熱烈的親密關(guān)系真的存在嗎？再狂戀的愛(ài)情也注定消逝嗎？當(dāng)激情逝去，親密關(guān)系又依靠什么繼續(xù)維系？好萊塢浪漫愛(ài)情片當(dāng)然不拍這些，觀(guān)眾要看少女心泛濫的酥酥甜甜小粉紅啦，誰(shuí)要看愛(ài)情的消耗，生活里聽(tīng)到看到經(jīng)歷到的還不夠多嗎。愛(ài)在三部曲前兩部在題材上也沒(méi)有超出浪漫愛(ài)情片，分別是20歲維也納相遇漫聊一天激情一夜愛(ài)上你卻別離和30歲巴黎重逢漫聊一天發(fā)現(xiàn)還是愛(ài)你。兩者雖然跨越九年，卻不過(guò)是兩天的相處。第三部要面對(duì)的話(huà)題顯然沉重的多：40歲雅典度假漫談（大吵）一天之相處九年還能繼續(xù)相愛(ài)嗎？
男女主角看起來(lái)衰老了一些，還是熟悉的話(huà)癆模式。他們談?wù)摃r(shí)間，討論生命和死亡。祖父和祖母的婚姻長(zhǎng)達(dá)74年?！疤炷模迨嗄旰竽氵€會(huì)受得了和我在一起嗎？”（在教堂里的對(duì)話(huà)顯示他們并沒(méi)有結(jié)婚，只是一起生活。）Celine講了一個(gè)俗氣的故事，查出絕癥只剩九個(gè)月生命的朋友感到解脫，因?yàn)楫?dāng)死亡是成為不遠(yuǎn)處一個(gè)確定的終點(diǎn)時(shí)，他才真正開(kāi)始毫無(wú)顧慮的享用人生。兩人看著海上的夕陽(yáng)一點(diǎn)一點(diǎn)落下，“還在那兒，還在那兒，還在那兒…啊消失了。”日落之所以成為動(dòng)人的景致，正因?yàn)樗虝阂资?，終將落下。不是夕陽(yáng)無(wú)限好，“只是”近黃昏，而恰恰是因?yàn)椤敖S昏”，夕陽(yáng)才會(huì)“無(wú)限好”。這樣說(shuō)來(lái)，愛(ài)情是否也同將死的生命和將落下的夕陽(yáng)一樣，唯有消逝才能成就其深刻？

然而此時(shí)，一段親密關(guān)系真正困難的部分才剛剛開(kāi)始。一直熱烈的親密關(guān)系真的存在嗎？再狂戀的愛(ài)情也注定消逝嗎？當(dāng)激情逝去，親密關(guān)系又依靠什么繼續(xù)維系？好萊塢浪漫愛(ài)情片當(dāng)然不拍這些，觀(guān)眾要看少女心泛濫的酥酥甜甜小粉紅啦，誰(shuí)要看愛(ài)情的消耗，生活里聽(tīng)到看到經(jīng)歷到的還不夠多嗎。愛(ài)在三部曲前兩部在題材上也沒(méi)有超出浪漫愛(ài)情片，分別是20歲維也納相遇漫聊一天激情一夜愛(ài)上你卻別離和30歲巴黎重逢漫聊一天發(fā)現(xiàn)還是愛(ài)你。兩者雖然跨越九年，卻不過(guò)是兩天的相處。第三部要面對(duì)的話(huà)題顯然沉重的多：40歲雅典度假漫談（大吵）一天之相處九年還能繼續(xù)相愛(ài)嗎？

雖然我很愛(ài)看電影，但我不愛(ài)重復(fù)看電影，特別是當(dāng)我還記得情節(jié)時(shí)。這次為了看《愛(ài)在午夜降臨前》，我翻出很早以前看的《愛(ài)在黎明破曉前》和《愛(ài)在日落黃昏時(shí)》來(lái)看。一直知道周?chē)芏嗯笥烟貏e喜歡，但記憶中之前我對(duì)這兩部電影沒(méi)有特殊的印象，事實(shí)證明有些電影真的是要到了一定的年齡，或者有了一定的生活閱歷會(huì)更容易獲得共鳴。這三部《愛(ài)在》系列就是值得一看再看的電影，人生的不同階段能看出不同的心情、不同的收獲。

在第二部里面Jesse提到兒子的時(shí)候，說(shuō)他的名字叫Hank，然后在末尾的字幕，兒子的名字也叫Hank，但是全片提到兒子的時(shí)候，他一直叫Henry ?﹏?
一家人在便利店買(mǎi)東西的時(shí)候，Celine用法語(yǔ)招呼女兒買(mǎi)東西，然后Jesse狀似迷糊的用英文跟Celine確認(rèn)，這里繼續(xù)腹誹，Ethan Hawke的法語(yǔ)其實(shí)說(shuō)得很好，而且他說(shuō)法語(yǔ)的時(shí)候聲音跟說(shuō)英語(yǔ)的時(shí)候不太一樣，有種帶著誘惑的性感在里面，導(dǎo)演不給大家福利?。?br>Jesse跟另外倆男人坐在院子里說(shuō)他的書(shū)的場(chǎng)景，順帶提到了他寫(xiě)的第二本書(shū)，然后被問(wèn)說(shuō)他跟Celine是不是真的像書(shū)里寫(xiě)的那樣很激烈的OOXX了。在第二部里面，Jesse說(shuō)起他關(guān)于維也納之夜的那本書(shū)，說(shuō)原本的結(jié)局是倆人重逢了然后OOXX得昏天黑地然后分手了，但是出版社不喜歡這個(gè)結(jié)局，Celine說(shuō)她更喜歡這個(gè)。嗯，總之他倆激烈的OOXX了這件事不僅成真了還終于寫(xiě)書(shū)出版了
倆人從機(jī)場(chǎng)開(kāi)車(chē)回去朋友家，后座倆姑娘睡得昏天黑地錯(cuò)過(guò)了遺跡，Celine先嘲笑了一下Jesse說(shuō)回頭去機(jī)場(chǎng)的時(shí)候再說(shuō)的借口，回頭等倆閨女醒了，又把Jesse的話(huà)重復(fù)了一遍，這里看得我一口水噴出來(lái)，類(lèi)似的事情一直發(fā)生在我爹媽身上，我就是那被爹媽忽悠的閨女
兩個(gè)人說(shuō)到初戀，Jesse說(shuō)是你啊，Celine說(shuō)得了吧，Jesse說(shuō)我說(shuō)的是真愛(ài)又不是X經(jīng)驗(yàn)。這倆95年在維也納下車(chē)跳到輕軌上坐在最后一排，Jesse問(wèn)的就是Celine的第一次經(jīng)驗(yàn)，而Celine問(wèn)的是Jesse有沒(méi)有愛(ài)過(guò)，Jesse回答得很隨便，并且以描述自己的第一次作結(jié)。所以我決定相信Jesse真心相愛(ài)的第一個(gè)人就是Celine了

很多人有感于最后Jesse放下身段哄Celine。其實(shí)，每次看到男人們苦惱說(shuō)哄老婆沒(méi)面子，老婆真的好難哄之類(lèi)的話(huà)，我都很想吐槽，你們這群真蠢貨，對(duì)于男人來(lái)說(shuō)，哄一個(gè)真心愛(ài)你的女人，是對(duì)你來(lái)說(shuō)最簡(jiǎn)單的事情之一了！
雖然本片沒(méi)什么“劇情”可談，但是想要保持新鮮感的話(huà)還是慎入吧

關(guān)于Jesse的兒子，看的時(shí)候腹誹了一下為啥某人不利用自家資源讓他家那位小孩來(lái)客串，你看人家波蘭斯基就把自家小兒子拉出來(lái)客串了。。。好吧這個(gè)只是個(gè)人私心并不重要
在第二部里面Jesse提到兒子的時(shí)候，說(shuō)他的名字叫Hank，然后在末尾的字幕，兒子的名字也叫Hank，但是全片提到兒子的時(shí)候，他一直叫Henry ?﹏?
一家人在便利店買(mǎi)東西的時(shí)候，Celine用法語(yǔ)招呼女兒買(mǎi)東西，然后Jesse狀似迷糊的用英文跟Celine確認(rèn)，這里繼續(xù)腹誹，Ethan Hawke的法語(yǔ)其實(shí)說(shuō)得很好，而且他說(shuō)法語(yǔ)的時(shí)候聲音跟說(shuō)英語(yǔ)的時(shí)候不太一樣，有種帶著誘惑的性感在里面，導(dǎo)演不給大家福利?。?br>Jesse跟另外倆男人坐在院子里說(shuō)他的書(shū)的場(chǎng)景，順帶提到了他寫(xiě)的第二本書(shū)，然后被問(wèn)說(shuō)他跟Celine是不是真的像書(shū)里寫(xiě)的那樣很激烈的OOXX了。在第二部里面，Jesse說(shuō)起他關(guān)于維也納之夜的那本書(shū)，說(shuō)原本的結(jié)局是倆人重逢了然后OOXX得昏天黑地然后分手了，但是出版社不喜歡這個(gè)結(jié)局，Celine說(shuō)她更喜歡這個(gè)。嗯，總之他倆激烈的OOXX了這件事不僅成真了還終于寫(xiě)書(shū)出版了
倆人從機(jī)場(chǎng)開(kāi)車(chē)回去朋友家，后座倆姑娘睡得昏天黑地錯(cuò)過(guò)了遺跡，Celine先嘲笑了一下Jesse說(shuō)回頭去機(jī)場(chǎng)的時(shí)候再說(shuō)的借口，回頭等倆閨女醒了，又把Jesse的話(huà)重復(fù)了一遍，這里看得我一口水噴出來(lái)，類(lèi)似的事情一直發(fā)生在我爹媽身上，我就是那被爹媽忽悠的閨女

作為Before的系列路，我終于在中年危機(jī)這里轉(zhuǎn)了粉。Sunrise太甜，Sunset偏酸，只有Midnight酸甜苦辣都入了味。數(shù)度被臺(tái)詞戳中，我不得不一再提醒自己：那些只是臺(tái)詞，它們不是真的。
浪漫是浪漫，生活是生活。愛(ài) 是愛(ài)。這是三件事。它們相互不矛盾，不對(duì)立，它們只是，很難統(tǒng)籌兼得。（看到有戀人在我這條微薄里留言給另一半：“想在你擁有我的日子里，給你一個(gè)三者并包的人生。”默默地說(shuō)，祝福你們?。?/p>
雖然之前的爭(zhēng)吵真實(shí)得讓人糟心，但結(jié)尾逐漸拉遠(yuǎn)的鏡頭仍讓人感動(dòng)。前兩部的浪漫與激情都變成了書(shū)里的故事，這一部則完全生活下來(lái)。各種雞毛蒜皮的瑣事只是一個(gè)假設(shè)，關(guān)于如何讓愛(ài)延續(xù)一生。生活中總會(huì)有這樣那樣的矛盾，人也會(huì)變老（比如半裸的朱莉·德?tīng)柵鍏s很難讓你覺(jué)得性感）問(wèn)題是我們?nèi)绾伟み^(guò)去。
所以說(shuō)想要長(zhǎng)久地在一起，必須是有一方一直不厭煩地陪著做戲。
真好，你還能讓我一次又一次的愛(ài)上。
黎明和黃昏后最自然最真實(shí)的承接。年輕時(shí)對(duì)愛(ài)情，社會(huì)以及人生的觀(guān)點(diǎn)和展望被中年后那些圍繞著家庭，婚姻以及職業(yè)展開(kāi)的爭(zhēng)吵和不滿(mǎn)所替代。即便如此，依舊是妙語(yǔ)連珠，吐不完的激情和浪漫。若不是當(dāng)初的深情，怎會(huì)有今夜的碰撞？片尾那封來(lái)自未來(lái)的信設(shè)計(jì)得太美妙了。讓我們9年后再相見(jiàn)吧。
飛一般的超越，硬生生的被朱莉的嘴炮給弄哭了。。那些隨口就能背誦莎士比亞臺(tái)詞的人們是多么的可惡啊！那些吃個(gè)下午茶都在談?wù)軐W(xué)談人生的人們是多么可憎??！那些連夫妻吵架都引經(jīng)據(jù)典的男女是多么可怕??！對(duì)彼此來(lái)說(shuō)我們多么重要，可最終還是過(guò)客，我失去你，不是以死亡為界，而是再一次。。再一次。。
為什么要結(jié)婚為什么要生小孩為什么要?dú)У糇约旱纳?/p>
真實(shí)的不像話(huà)。換在9年前，我會(huì)看不下去兩人婚后的絮絮叨叨、不斷地吵架及和好，放到現(xiàn)在，卻“心有戚戚焉”?；ハ嗾勰?、互相傷害、互相妥協(xié)、并肩前行。愛(ài)人只不過(guò)是“經(jīng)過(guò)”了你生命的那個(gè)人，而這份“經(jīng)過(guò)”也請(qǐng)好好珍惜。
他們的愛(ài)情一直讓我想到哈利對(duì)莎莉最后的表白，“如果你知道自己想和誰(shuí)一起度過(guò)余生，你會(huì)希望余生開(kāi)始得越早越好?！笔四辏瑥南嘤鱿鄲?ài)到這一部中被生活歷練過(guò)的愛(ài)，柴米油鹽和時(shí)間沒(méi)有磨平愛(ài)情，反而讓愛(ài)變成了一種習(xí)慣，太了解彼此，于是越來(lái)越難戒掉。期待九年后的續(xù)集了！★★★★★
“我雖努力，卻難于去親近自己心愛(ài)的人”經(jīng)歷了平淡、爭(zhēng)吵、否定、相濡以沫所有最真實(shí)的感情狀態(tài)，18年過(guò)后，最難的是仍對(duì)彼此保有激情。上一次看到這么純粹的愛(ài)情電影，還是九年前。伊桑朱莉理查請(qǐng)你們9年后準(zhǔn)時(shí)回來(lái)，哪怕拍不動(dòng)了、聊不起了、原地靜坐90分鐘，也好啊。期待2022年的第四部。
十八年后他們變成了相遇那天火車(chē)上喋喋不休爭(zhēng)吵摔門(mén)的德國(guó)夫婦
“他們竟然____了”模式開(kāi)啟。從愛(ài)情的偶然到愛(ài)情的實(shí)然，浪漫也終于被相處的實(shí)用性取代。“就像日出日落，我們出現(xiàn)，我們消失，可最終只是經(jīng)過(guò)?！蹦切┈嵥榈臓?zhēng)吵怨念放在時(shí)間的河里似乎也就不算什么了。他最后向她朗讀了一封40年后的來(lái)信——原來(lái)前18年還只是序曲，我流淚了...
結(jié)婚快10年互相之間還有這么多話(huà)可講，還有性生活，這他媽不是真愛(ài)是什么？
第一部時(shí)還愿意有更多的轉(zhuǎn)換場(chǎng)景，更多的配樂(lè)，更多的更像電影的呈現(xiàn)方式。到此時(shí)，電影本身就是生活本身。這是導(dǎo)演的野心，也是自信。交談、爭(zhēng)吵與和好，爭(zhēng)論與妥協(xié)。其實(shí)，他們還是18年前那一對(duì)年輕的男女。抓住人心的不是電影，永遠(yuǎn)都是生活本身。
能讓所有投入的心血精力時(shí)間感情不白費(fèi)功夫，除了寬容忍讓?zhuān)褪潜舜说挠哪歪寫(xiě)?，純粹的完全真?shí)的百分之百的愛(ài)情無(wú)法存活，請(qǐng)接受對(duì)方的缺點(diǎn)和過(guò)錯(cuò)，忽略皺紋和嘮叨；幻想和另一個(gè)誰(shuí)會(huì)有更好結(jié)局，至多讓你有勇氣談?wù)摗皭?ài)”，這是奢侈的虛偽的笨拙的；請(qǐng)接受眼前現(xiàn)狀吧。
為了看第三部，特意重溫了前兩部。還把《戀人絮語(yǔ)》找出來(lái)讀了下。期待第四部Before Death（愛(ài)在棺材盒蓋時(shí)）……
只有我關(guān)注引發(fā)吵架的生活問(wèn)題其實(shí)一個(gè)都沒(méi)解決嗎？
第三部反而代入感特別強(qiáng)了，感覺(jué)在女主身上看到幾十年后那個(gè)依然很作的自己，人愿意來(lái)哄你就已經(jīng)很好了，女文青這脾氣啊，真是不適合生活的典型，做不到三從四德逆來(lái)順受，給一點(diǎn)愛(ài)就受寵若驚，完全以男方為中心就不是賢良淑德了么，反正我也做不到。再過(guò)56年我也還是現(xiàn)在這個(gè)挑剔，別扭的脾氣。
