Race for the White HouseSeason 1(2016)
Narrator1:Dukakis sets out to winhis party's nomination. There is literallya shortlist of opponents.
Michael Dukakis:There were seven of us.Some of the press, rather uncharitably, referred to us as the seven dwarves.
[cheering]
Narrator:Of the seven, Joe Biden,a young senator from Delaware,is one of the frontrunners.
Biden:I announce my candidacy for Presidentof the United States of America.
Michael Dukakis:Good, solid, progressive Democratand just an all around good guy,um, and a fine United States senator.
Biden:I tell you todaythat America is a nation at risk.
Susan Estrich: So Biden came to Washingtonas one of the most sympatheticyoung senators. And was widely viewedas a very decent man.
[marching band plays]
Narrator:A very decent man who now poses a threatto Dukakis' presidential ambition. As the candidates prepare for their firstcampaign battle, the Iowa caucus,Biden finds himself under the microscopelike a pinned bug.
David Yepsen, Des Moines Register:I was the chief political writerfor "The Des Moines Register",which is the largest newspaper in Iowa.A very respected Democraticpolitical operativehad called and he said, "I got somethingI want to show you off the record."I said, "Okay."And so we went out to his car,he got in the trunkand he handed me a copy of this videotape. He said, "Just take a look at that."Well, I, uh, went back to my office, popped it in the cart.
Man on TV:Why is it that Joe Biden is the first...
David Yepsen:Oh, wow.It was the kind of story that sucksall the oxygen out of the room.
Narrator:The chief political reporterof Iowa's leading newspaperhas been given a videotapefeaturing Joe Biden. It's not a sex tape. It's worse than that.
David Yepsen:You know, here is Joe Biden giving a speech.
Bidenon Tape:Why is it that Joe Biden,is the first in his familyever to go to a university?
David Yepsen:It's almost word for word, what British Labor Party leaderNeil Kinnock had said.
Kinnockon Tape:Why am I the first Kinnockin a thousand generationsto be able to get to university?
David Yepsen:Here's a clip of Kinnock and here's a clipof Biden saying the same thing.
Kinnockon Tape:Was it because they were weak? Those people who could workeight hours underground, and then come up and play football? Bidenon Tape:My ancestors who worked in the coal minesof Northeast Pennsylvaniaand they would come up after 12 hoursand play football for four hours.
David Yepsen:Biden stealing Neil Kinnock's wordswithout attributing it.I wrote my story, and, uh, there were more and moreexamples of, uh, plagiarism.Reporters were digging into his past.
Biden:No comment.
David Yepsen:It was a sign of deathby a thousand cuts.
Biden:I've concluded thatI will stop being a candidatefor President of the United States.
Narrator:But who was behind the leaked tape?
Manon TV:Michael Dukakis is assessingthe damage to his campaignfollowing the disclosurethat two of his top aidessabotaged the campaignof rival Joseph Biden.
Narrator:None other than Dukakis's supposedlysqueaky-clean campaign manager,John Sasso.
Susan Estrich:I went to John's officeand he was saying that Dukakiswas gonna fire him today or tomorrow.I was like, "What?"I knocked on the governor's doorand I said, "This is crazy".What they did wasn't so wrong. You're losing the heart and soulof your campaign. He said, "I've heard all the arguments."Nope.
Dukakis:I spoke to Joe Bidena few minutes ago on the telephone, and I want to publicly apologize to himfor the involvement of my campaign.
Michael Dukakis:I just thought it was very importantthat if I was gonna win that nomination,I do so in a waythat had Democrats feeling goodabout my candidacyand good about my nomination.2

Race.for.the.White.House.S01E03.PROPER.720p.HD
這也太好看了 ???? politics is truly fascinating ??
