As a result, two years after he left the goverment, the Conservatives offer him a consituency and a porfolio, Chancellor of the Exchequer, like his father 30 years ago. Despite his earlier betrayal, Churchill returns to the bosom of the Conservative Party. He remaks, "Anyone can rat, but it takes a certain amount of ingenuity to re-rat.“

1925 He's become an orator without equal, daring to address Parliament in ways, that make more than one MP shrink in his presence. To a menber who constantly interrupts him with "Liar!", Churchill retorts, "If the Honorable Gentleman who keeps interrupting me consents to give his name rather than his profession, I am sure we'll all be glad to make his acquaintance." One day the MP lady aster spits at him, " If I were your wife, I'd poison your coffee." to witch Churchill replies, " Madam, if I were your husband, I'd drink it."

I would say to the House as I've said to those who've joined the goverment, I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I will say, it is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strenth that God can give us, to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalog of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: victory. Victory at all costs.Victory in spite of all terror. Victory, however long and hard the road may be.

We shall defend our island,what ever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets. We shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender!

幾十年磕磕絆絆的政治仕途，以及兩度出征時(shí)的熱血沸騰（好戰(zhàn)分子）。

還看到了blackdog總在他仕途失意時(shí)來襲，danger, alcohol,cigars and writing相伴他一生，這位語(yǔ)言大師拿過諾貝爾文學(xué)獎(jiǎng)，繪畫也相當(dāng)不錯(cuò)。

他不完美，對(duì)數(shù)字不敏感，任財(cái)政大臣時(shí)的錯(cuò)誤決策讓英國(guó)經(jīng)濟(jì)陷入危機(jī)，他自嘲為“英國(guó)史上最糟糕的財(cái)政大臣”；家里孩子不成器，婚姻不見得幸福；但這些都不妨礙他成為世紀(jì)巨人的事實(shí)，是他第一個(gè)站出來對(duì)抗希特勒，感染了英國(guó)人民，說服與聯(lián)合羅斯福和斯大林一起打贏戰(zhàn)役，可就是這么一位偉大的多才多藝的人，臨終前說自己此生一事無成。

他強(qiáng)撐著等到父親去世時(shí)的同月同日同時(shí)辰死去，足以見得他對(duì)父親的愛，可偏偏這位天天酗酒、仕途失敗、46歲就死于梅毒的父親卻從未善待過丘吉爾，我想丘吉爾的抑郁癥多少跟自小缺愛有關(guān)吧。

連續(xù)看了兩遍，致敬偉人！1.5小時(shí)紀(jì)錄片相對(duì)客觀的囊括了偉人的一生。頑劣的少年期，被學(xué)校、被父親認(rèn)定不成器，終生未得到原生家庭的愛和認(rèn)可；數(shù)次親赴戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)前線作戰(zhàn)、三次墜機(jī)、還有嚴(yán)重車禍等事故，政治上幾次起起伏伏，丘吉爾還是度過了90歲生日，在中風(fēng)昏迷中熬到和父親同月同日同時(shí)辰去世。90年歲月，墓葬地距離出生地僅一英里，卻影響了英國(guó)歷史、影響了世界歷史進(jìn)程。二戰(zhàn)中，希特勒在歐洲所向披靡，英國(guó)沒有丘吉爾的激勵(lì)和“決不投降、不惜一切代價(jià)取勝”的堅(jiān)定；沒有丘吉爾提前打造的軍事王國(guó)：英國(guó)的空軍、海軍艦隊(duì)、坦克、軍情處、雷達(dá)等全是丘吉爾建造的；沒有丘吉爾聯(lián)合美國(guó)和蘇聯(lián)共同對(duì)抗，英國(guó)絕無可能勝利。他有著杰出的能力：在英國(guó)士氣低落的時(shí)候，他的演講讓反對(duì)黨也淚流滿面，激勵(lì)了民眾奮勇反抗納粹蹂躪的信心；他的演講打動(dòng)了美國(guó)政治階層；他的寫作獲得諾貝爾文學(xué)獎(jiǎng)；他的繪畫能力也極其優(yōu)秀；他的勇氣讓自負(fù)的斯大林都感到震撼。他將自己一生的熱情、熱血、淚水都奉獻(xiàn)給了他極其熱愛的英國(guó)，但他在政治上卻是幾經(jīng)沉浮，尤其歷經(jīng)五年殘酷的二戰(zhàn)，終于帶領(lǐng)英國(guó)取得勝利，沒有丘吉爾就不會(huì)取得的勝利，接著在首相連任的選舉中丘吉爾敗北，民眾懷疑戰(zhàn)時(shí)的老首相能否在和平時(shí)代還能勝任，讓他震驚和抑郁。他最大的夢(mèng)想是英國(guó)的強(qiáng)大和世界和平，他說：我一生去的很多成就，后來我卻發(fā)現(xiàn)我一無成就”，讓人唏噓。不管怎樣，丘吉爾在英國(guó)歷史乃至世界歷史上的地位都不可磨滅。
