Arctodus simus, the giant short-faced bear, was the largest mammalian carnivore ever to walk the Earth. The bear is shown defeating Smilodon and Megalonyx, and scaring off dire wolves.

猜想：是個吃腐肉的大駱駝。

考慮到一萬年前，這三者可能因為人類的入侵而紛紛滅絕（在一千年的時間里），《與狼共舞》里對歐洲獵手導致北美野牛滅絕的抨擊就非常有意思了。

The huge terror birds of South and North America, Kelenken and Titanis, are both shown as apex predators. Kelenken is shown to eat Homalodotherium, the glyptodont Parapropalaehoplophorus, and rodents, and Titanis is shown coming into competition with additional predators Smilodon gracilis and Canis edwardii, and is also shown to eat horses.
